Question 1.

What strategies were used?
The Strategies that i used were multiplication, division and i used a ratio table.

How did you use the strategies?
I used multiplication and division with the ratio table to figure out the new size containers. I also used these strategies to figure out the prices of each new size containers.

Or how could you have used these strategies?
I stuck with the ratio table because that was the first thing that i thought of. I could of done a clock or a number line too. I think the ratio table was the easiest.

How would you figure out the price of a 6 cup bag of Betty's Snack mix? Use a ratio table.




Find 3 other values (amounts of Snack Mix) that could be solved using the same ratio table. Find the $$ of your new container sizes.

My strategy was to divide the number of pizzas by the number of people and do the same thing to the people to get how many slices per person.



Group one : Sally Bob, Gidget and Biff Share 3 pizzas.
So this on i divided 4 by 4 which is 1, and then i divided 3 by 4 which is 0.75 or 3/4. So each person gets 3/4 of a pizza.



Group 2 Stan, Holly, Barry, Ben and Ichkabibble share 4 pizzas.
For this group i divided 5 people by 5 to get 1 and divided 4 by 5 to figure out how many slices per person. And i got 4/5 per person


Group 3 Eric, Susy,James, Betty, Veronica and Moose share 5 pizzas.
So group three has 6 people and they have 5 pizzas all together. So you divide 5 by 6 for each pizza slice for each person and i got 5/6.

Group 4 Paul, Alex, Chris, Jughead, Archie, Reggie, Mr. Wotherspoon and Midge share 7 pizzas.
So the last group had 8 people and 7 pizzas to share. So i divided the pizzas by 8 and the people by 8 also and each person has 7/8 of a pizza.

Group 1 gets the most pizzas.

1. What strategies were needed?
- There were lots of strategies that I could of used like a ratio table, a clock, a number line, and money. With those strategies you could divide, subtract, add, and multiply.

2. How did you use these strategies?
- I first used money but that didn't work out. So I used a ratio table and I added, divided, and multiplied.

3. Or How could you of used these strategies?
- With money I don't think it would work because some of the numbers wouldn't fit well with the strategy. Clocks wouldn't work out too because there aren't many fractions to work with and that the numbers don't really fit well with the numbers that work well with a clock. A ratio table would work better because it shows that what you do on one side with the number or fraction you do the same thing one the other side with the number or fraction.

Question 1: What strategies were needed?- There are many strategies that I could've used such as Ratio tables, clocks, money, and maybe even number lines. You could also use multiplication, adding, subtracting and dividing.

Question 3 : How would you use these strategies?- I don't think that money would work that well with this problem but it probably will when dealing with the prices of the ingredient/can. Clocks, to me, doesn't seem to be a very good strategy for this problem since their isn't much fractions that are close to clock strategy. I would prefer using the ratio table for this problem.

Me and my partners strategy was to divide the number of pizzas by the number of people and do the same thing to the people to get how many slices per person.

Today and yesterday we were in groups of two and needed to figure out how many minutes did Maria, Marco,Rachel, Josh, Suzanne, Lucia, Eileen, Bob, and Julio do on their laps. This is what i did. Maria = 120mins, 4 circuits/laps, I divided the minutes by the lap. so 120/4 equals 30mins and for 4/4(you do the same thing to the other side for ratio table) it equals 1. So the one tells us that for one lap Maria did, it took her 30mins.

I Did the same thing for everyone elses. Though for the ones who had a fraction as the lap, I x(times) it to make it equal one or turn it into another number and make it turn into a one by dividing.

Which fraction is bigger? 1/2 + 1/6 + 1/4 + 7/12

First I divide 2 (denominator) into 12, which is 6. Then I time 6 to 5 mins, which gives me the answer, 30 mins.
2 ÷ 12 x 5 mins = 30 mins
You could do this in another way too.
Divide 2 (denominator) into 60 mins, which equals to the answer, 30 mins.
2 ÷ 60 mins = 30 mins

1/6
Same thing. 6 (denominator) divided by 12, is 2. 2 times, 5 mins is 10 mins.
6 ÷ 12 x 5 mins = 10 mins
Again, you could do this in another way.
6 (denominator) divded by 60 mins, equals 10 mins.
6 ÷ 60 = 10 mins.

Now, you add the answers.
30 mins plus 10 mins equal 40 mins.
30 mins + 10 mins = 40 mins (40 mins/60 mins)

4 (denominator) divided by 12 is 6, 6 times 5 mins is 15 mins.
4 ÷ 12 x 5 mins = 15 mins
Different way...
4 (denominator) divide by 60 mins is 15 mins.
4 ÷ 60 mins = 15 mins

7/12
12 (denominator) divided by 12 is 1, 1 times 5 mins is 5 mins, but look at the numerator '7', so 7 times 5mins is 35mins.
12 ÷ 1 x 5 mins x 7 = 35
Another way doing this...
12 (denominator) divded by 60 mins is, 35 mins.
12 ÷ 60 mins = 35 mins.

Then you add the mins,
15 mins + 35 mins = 50 mins (50 mins /60 mins)

Now lets compare.....
The first set of fraction is, 1/2 + 1/6. We found out it equals to 40/60.
The second set of fraction is, 1/4 + 7/12. We found out it equals to 50/60.

This fraction game is pretty easy, its like a matching game. I just like the sound effects. ^^ It's funny.

7. Go back to your picture of the bike race. Tell us all about how you calculated the Km positions at a twelfth, sixth and a third. did you see any patterns?

For 12th we divided it by 60 which equals to 5,
6th I divided it by 60 and it's 10.
3rd i divided it by 60 and it equals to 20.
The patterns i noticed were that, some of the numbers landed on the same KM, like : 20, 30, 40, ect...

8. What are 2 different ways to find a quarter and 3/4 of a number. Use one of the following 16, 22, or 110.

I can get 3/4 of a number by cutting 16 in half (8) then cut 8 in half (4) add both numbers , 4 and 8, and you get 12. 12 is 3/4 of 16

9) Write a fraction question and answer it. It has to be a question like one you have had on a test. You may answer it in pictorial or word form.

Haha thats look so challenging ^^

Ok first, i divided 12 (denominator) to 60 mins, which is 5 mins, and i times it by 9 (numerator) and the answer is, 45 mins.
Next fraction, 3/4. I divided 4 (denominator) to 60 mins, which is 15 mins, and i times it by 3 (numberator) which is 45 mins.
Now i add the two mins, 45 mins plus 45 mins is 90 mins (90/60 or 1 30/60)

Next fraction, 2/5. 5 divided by 60 mins is 12 mins, 12 mins times 2 is, 24 mins.
Last fraction, 4/6. 6 divided by 60 mins is 10 mins, 10 mins times 4 is, 40 mins.
Now i add the last two mins, 24 plus 40 mins is, 64 mins. (64/60 or 1 4/60)
Ok let's compare.... 1 whole 30/60 > 1 whole 4/60

This site is about a soccer shoot out fraction game. When ever you get the fraction right you get to take a shot on the net. But when you get the fraction wrong the other team wins a goal.



7 )Me and Jasmine did ours wrong because we were multiplying the numbers.But we figured out how to do it right...we have to divided 60 by the the number.

60 divided by 3 should equal 20.

60 divided by 12 equals 5.

60 divided by 6 equals 10.

So you would have to colour every 20th,5th and ,10th number of the way.

The pattern is that for every number it is divided by 60 and then what ever the awnser is, it should be the coloured in.

8) I chose the number 16.

1) 16 divided by 4 equals 4.Thenmultiply 4 by 3 and your awnser is 12. 12 is 3/4 of 16.

-This is my 2nd way of awnsering 3/4 of 16.
The whole square represents 16 as a whole.
8 equals 1/2
4 equals 1/4.
4 x 3=12
12=3/4 of 16
