Andrea's BOB

The Volume of A Rectangular Prism

Volume: the amount of space occupied by an object is called volume.

The volume of a rectangular prism can be found by the formula:

VOLUME = LENGTH x WIDTH x HEIGHT

HEIGHT= 35 cm(3)
LENGTH= 13 cm(3)
WIDTH= 44 cm(3)

All you need to do multiply 35 cm² x 13 cm² x 44 cm²= The Volume.

V= 20020 cm²(3)

ANOTHER WAY TO FIND VOLUME:

To find volume you can use the formula:

BASE X HEIGHT

The base of the prism is a triangle, so we need to find the area of the triangle.

Area of the triangle = 1/2 x 8 x 4 = 16 cm(3)
The height of the prism is 12 cm(3).
Volume of the prism = A x H = 16 x 12 = 192cm(3)

THE SURFACE AREA:

How to find the surface area?

Every net conatins a top, bottom, front, back, and a right, and left side.

H= 30 cm(3)
L= 20 cm(3)
W=10 cm (3)

What is the surface area?

Top & Bottom= 2 (lxw)

Front & Back=2 (hxl)

Right Side & Left Side= 2 (hxw)

To get the measurments for each part of the net you need to follow steps above in brackets and multiply your answer by 2.

Top & Bottom=400cm(3)

Front & Back=1200cm(3)

Right Side & Left Side=600cm(3)

Now add all of your answers together to get the surface area:

400 cm(3) + 1200 cm(3) + 600 cm(3) = 2200 cm(3)
