Vina's First Growing Post

Q.In the body of your post please answer the following question. You need to use words and a picture. Which set of fractions is larger 1/2 + 1/6 or 1/4 + 7/12. I would recommend that you use the idea of clocks to show your understanding.
A.( 1/2 & 1/6 ) 1/2 is 30 minutes in a clock because half of 60 minutes is 30 minutes 1/6 is 10 minutes if you divide 60 to 6 you'll get 10. Add 3o minutes (1/2) and 10 minutes ( 1/6 ) together and you get 40/60. 40 is the answer you get for adding the minutes and 60 is how many minutes there are in a clock. ( 1/4 & 7/12) 1/4 is 15 minutes, 7/12 is 5 minutes because if you divide the denominators to 60 you get teh answer. Add both answers and you get 50/60. Then you have to compare both answers (
1/2 & 1/6 , 1/4 & 7/12 ) to find which is larger. 1/4 and 7/12 = 50/60 is larger.

Q. Find your picture of your final project "The Bike Race Fundraiser" at flickr
A. For the km markers,i divide 12 to 2 = 6 them you divide 6 to 2 = 3, which means every half of twelve and half of 3 there is a
km markers.

6.Do a google search for fraction games. Find a good site and write a review of the game. Tell everyone what is good about this site. You also need to create a link to the site.
http://www.mrnussbaumgames.com/icecream_shop/ this fraction game is interesting for me because you need to really know your fractions and you need to answer it quickly before the time ends. I find it really hard to do :P.

7. Go back to your picture of the bike race. Tell us all about how you calculated the Km positions at a twelfth, sixth and a third. did you see any patterns?
For the km markers,i divide 12 to 2 = 6 them you divide 6 to 2 = 3, which means every half of twelve and half of 3 there is a km markers.

Q.8. What are 2 different ways to find a quarter and 3/4 of a number. Use one of the following 16, 22, or 110. To find 1/4 of a number, you have to divide the number by 4, since 1/4 means 1 piece of 4 equal parts. 16\4 = 4. If you multiply 4 to 4, 4 x 4 = 16. To find 3/4 of a number, you can divide the 1/4 by 3 (0.25 x 3 = 0.75, 0.75 = 3/4). So we multiple 4 (1/4 of 16) by 3, and that equals 12 (3/4 of 16).
